A Map of El Cerrito Public Paths, Trails and Stairways is a handy guide both to trails in El Cerrito’s magical Hillside Natural Area, and to neighborhood pathways and public stairs. Few of the trails or paths have signage, making them easy to pass by unknowingly – unless you have the map! Even longtime residents of El Cerrito will discover paths they have never known existed. People from outside the town can discover the Hillside Natural Area for the first time, 100 acres of live oak forest, grassland, and creeks, traversed by trails.
The map, produced by El Cerrito Trail Trekkers in partnership with the National Park Service, includes concise descriptions of each trail and makes finding them easy. The map is printed on paper that is sturdy and water repellant. It was put together with love by a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving open space in El Cerrito and improving, maintaining and expanding its network of walkways.
